Our Board of Directors

A recognized leader and corporate visionary in Greenville, Leighton’s entrepreneurial background is steeped in the telecom industry. Leighton cofounded Serrus Telecom Investments, which yielded significant above-average returns for stakeholders. His vision and pursuit of excellence for hyper growth organizations have resulted in notable achievements such as South Carolina Entrepreneur of the Year (1993) and INC 500 #128 (1995). Mr. Cubbage has also served on boards in the automotive, banking and healthcare industries, including two terms as Chairman for the Greenville Hospital System, the largest healthcare organization in South Carolina. He currently serves as the Chairman of the SC Venture Capital Authority.

A big part of who I am is giving back to improve the lives of others not as fortunate as we are. I serve on several charitable boards with a focus on fund raising. These organizations include The Cliffs Residents Outreach and The South Carolina Plan Giving Council of which I am currently a member. I am also very involved in supporting the churches that I have been involved with over the years.

My interests include spending time with my wife, daughter and two dogs, hanging out on Lake Keowee, practicing my golf swing with friends, and watching Clemson football.

Amy Baxter grew up in Danville, Virginia.  After obtaining a BA in Biology and English from Pfeiffer College, she settled in the Charlotte area and worked for Duke Energy Corporation for 24 years.  Her career began as a chemist at McGuire Nuclear Station. After retiring from Duke Energy when her family relocated to Seneca in 2003, Amy obtained a certification in Interior Design.  She ran her own interior design company for three years.

Community service and volunteer work have always been an important part of Amy’s life.  While in the Charlotte area, she served as a commissioner on the Concord Historic Preservation Commission and as a volunteer for her son’s school and for RAIN, a support group for HIV patients.  Since moving to Seneca, she served as a longtime volunteer for the Oconee County Adult Literacy program, as a board member for Waterside Crossing HOA, and as President of the Foothills Conservatory for the Performing Arts Board.  Amy volunteered with patients in hospice care and then served as a board member for GHS Oconee Memorial Foundation, Hospice of the Foothills.  While on the Hospice of the Foothills board, Amy’s role was Advocacy/Marketing committee chair.  Since 2016, Amy has served as a mentor for a Ripple of One client and also as a health coach.Amy and her husband Dave enjoy lake living and travel.  They visit their son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons in Vermont every chance they get.

I grew up in Sumter SC as the youngest of seven kids. After graduation from high school in 1965, I enrolled in Clemson University and earned a degree in Civil
Engineering in 1969. I started my work career in Cocoa, Florida with Florida Power & Light (FPL) as an engineer. I was drafted in 1971 into the US Army and after
basic/advance training, had the blessed opportunity to serve in the Old Guard in Arlington, Virginia as a casket team leader in their ceremonial unit for two years.

In 1974, I was discharged and returned to FPL where I served for a total of 28 years until retiring in 1997 as their VP of Distribution. I decided to pursue getting my contractor’s license and ended up building one house in Pawley’s Island. I was then contacted by the NRECA and served as CEO for three separate Electric
Cooperatives in Alabama & Kentucky. I retired in 2009 from East Kentucky Power as their CEO and moved back to Clemson area.

Once back, my wife Paula and I enjoyed living on Lake Keowee and joined the Oconee Presbyterian Church in Seneca. I served as both a Deacon and treasurer for them. I then was invited to join the Ripple of One organization as a member of their board and also as their treasurer. It has been such a rewarding experience to have served in both of those opportunities. In 2020 we decided it was time to
down size and moved to Patrick Square.
We have been blessed to have four daughters and four grandkids to enjoy through these years. We love going to Clemson games and enjoying the company
of many friends that we have had the opportunity to meet in this area, especially in our Church and Ripple.
